In 1980, Taurus purchased the Beretta factory in São Paulo, Brazil, and refined the design into the acclaimed Taurus 92. A drop hammer-forged, ordnance-grade alloy frame resists cracking and keeps the slide secure. A frame-mounted, ambidextrous three-position safety is more secure than slide-mounted designs and supports SA “cocked-and-locked” carry as well as DA decocking.

Taurus Security System (TSS) — Built-in keyed lock secures the pistol and prevents firing until unlocked.

Loaded Chamber Indicator — Provides at-a-glance confirmation of a round in the chamber without affecting operation.

Three-Position Ambidextrous Safety/Decocker — Positive detents for SAFE, FIRE, and DECOCK; allows safe decocking and SA or DA use.
